pH:

The pH scale is a numeric scale, ranging from 0 to 14, used to indicate the amount of acid or alkaline (base) in a solution.

Low numbers are more acidic, and high numbers are more alkaline.
A pH of 7 is neutral.
A change of one pH means ten times more acidic or alkaline.
- A pH of 2 is ten times more acidic than a pH of 3.
- A pH of 11 is ten times more alkaline than a pH of 10.

HARDNESS:

Hardness is a measure of the amount of calcium and magnesium metals ions dissolved in water.

Soft water has very few calcium and magnesium ions;harder water has more calcium and magnesium ions.

CONDUCTIVITY:

Pocket Pal

Conductivity is a measure how well water conducts electricity. Since acids and dissolved metals both cause water to conduct electricity, conductivity can tell you if something is dissolved in water, but further tests are needed to determine what is dissolved in the water.
